School of Education, Jiangnan University
The School of Education has become a advanced college, integrating multiple educational functions such as cultivation of advanced educational talents, educational research, exploitation and management of modern educational technology resources with training for primary, secondary school teachers and headmasters. Upholding the reliable educational tradition of Jiangnan University formed in the past hundred years, it gathers the management and research functions for teacher training of the whole university. Currently, it consists of the Institute for Educational Research, Department of Education, Department of Educational Technology, Department of Psychology, Modern Education Technology Center, Center for Teaching Excellence, Wuxi Headmasters & Teachers Training Center, and Wuxi Education Reform & Development Research Center. The School is entitled to confer master’s degree in Educational Principles, including five research areas: Basic Theories of Education, Moral and Psychological Education, IT-based Education, Reform and Development of Basic Education as well as Principles and Methodology of Education. Meanwhile, it offers B.A degrees in three specialties for undergraduates, that covers Education, Education Technology, and Primary Education, including five specialties, namely Psychological Education, Information Technology Education, Digital Media Technology, Primary Bilingual Education and Primary Education.
The school is staffed with a well-structured, motivated faculty. Among the full-time professional teachers, 85% of them have been obtained their Master’s or Doctor’s degrees and 55% of them have senior professional titles. Headed by a group of cross-century academic leaders, teaching masters and outstanding young scientists and supported by young teachers as the main body of the academic team, it has been formed its own research characters and disciplinary advantages.
The beautiful campus together with Tian Jiabing Education Building covering an area of 12,000 m2 builds the school with fist-class education environment. The school’s experimental center owns teaching facilities worth more than ten million yuan, equipped with advanced laboratory facilities such as multimedia technology laboratory, network technology laboratory, artificial intelligence laboratory, television production laboratory, TV studio, photographic laboratory, psychological laboratory, electronic keyboard room, as well as micro teaching.
