when与while用法的区别：while引导的时间状语从句多用进行时态，而when引导的用一般时态即可。
例如：用while时可以说：WhileIwasseekingaparkinglot,thepolicecameoverandaskedmetoshowmydrivinglicense.（当我在找停车场的时候，警察走过来让我出示驾照。）用when则要说：WhenIturnedmyhead,Isawapolicecomingover.（当我回头的时候，我看到警察朝我走过来。）while只能表达“duringcertainamountoftime”（在某段时间内），不能表达某一时间点。而when则既可以表达一个时间点，又可以表达一段时间。所以，跟在while后面的动词必须要是个延续性动词，不能是类似：puton、sitdown这样瞬间就结束的动词。例如：WhileIwaswonderingwhattoorderforlunchtoday,Pennysuggestedpizza.（当我还在苦思冥想中午吃什么的时候，Penny提议吃披萨。）例句：when1、Iaskedhimwhenhe'dbebacktopickmeup.我问他什么时候回来接我。
2、Hecouldrememberatimewhenhehadworkedlikethathimself.他还能记得自己一度工作起来也是那个样子。
3、HowcanIlovemyselfwhenIlooklikethis?我这个样子，怎么能对自己满意呢？while1、Theywalkedoninsilenceforawhile.他们继续默默无语地走了一会儿。
2、Allthewhilethepeopleatthenexttablewatchedmeeat.我吃东西的时候邻桌的人一直在看我。
3、Isatonthesetteetounwrapthepackagewhilehestoodby.我坐在长椅上打开包裹时他就站在旁边。
